Agnesian HealthCare welcomes hospitalist Mark-Allen Polyakov, MD, to St. Agnes Hospital, 430 E. Division Street.
As a hospitalist, Dr. Polyakov specializes in the care of a patient admitted to St. Agnes Hospital managing and coordinating the care through their hospitalization. During a patient’s stay, Dr. Polyakov stays in close communication with their primary care physician and sub-specialists, ensuring they receive the best care possible.
In essence, a hospitalist is an extension of the primary care physician in the hospital with the goal to maintain continuity and high quality of care.
“Because our focus is on a patient’s care while at the hospital, we work as their medical advocate and help optimize outcomes,” according to Dr. Polyakov. “We are always available to help, especially in the event of an emergency.”
An individual’s primary care physician can refer them to a hospitalist. Or, if an individual is brought to the Emergency Department, needs to be admitted to the hospital, and has no primary doctor, that individual may be cared for by a hospitalist.
A graduate of the Sackler School of Medicine, New York State/American Program at the Tel Aviv University in Israel, Dr. Polyakov completed his internal medicine residency at the Drexel University College of Medicine at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Polyakov is married to Dina Vaynberg, MD, an obstetrician/gynecologist at the Fond du Lac Regional Clinic, and together they have two children. He enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, hiking and snowboarding. For more information about Dr. Polyakov, call (920) 929-2300.
