Tremendous support was shown for the Treffert Center during the 2019 Agnesian HealthCare Foundation Love Light fund-raiser as donors helped to raise more than $14,000 to support the Treffert Center.

The Treffert Center, which includes Agnesian Beyond Boundaries of Autism (ABBA), the Treffert Academy, the Treffert Library/Savant Center and Treffert Clinic, is working to share knowledge on neuro-diversity (autistic spectrum disorders) and what it means for our community.

Darold Treffert, MD, and Matt Doll, PhD, Behavioral Health Services/Autism director, served as the 2019 Love Light co-chairpersons.

“Many individuals feel a great sense of loss during the holiday season; this is directly attributed to feeling different from others, and at the Treffert Center we recognize that,” according to Dr. Treffert. “My continuous hope and wish for the Treffert Center is that we can provide happiness, hope, support and guidance not only to our children but to our community as well.”

The knowledgeable and talented team at the Treffert Center works to help families and our community understand these differences. The key to acceptance is understanding.

The Treffert Center was founded in 2016 and is the only savant institute in the world. They have served more than 1,000 people and their families and their services currently span 20 counties in Wisconsin…and are still growing!

Love Lights proceeds will benefit current and future programs and equipment needed by the Treffert Center to continue expanding their level of care.

The 2019 Love Light project was meaningful to many families that have experienced the benefits of the Treffert Center, and the final outcome was reflective of this gratitude.

“Once again, individuals and families within our community have stepped forward to help support the many important services that are offered at a local level,” according to Shawn Fisher, Agnesian HealthCare Foundation executive director. “It reinforces the impact these services have. We’re honored to be able to expand this great resource, which has numerous times proven beneficial to our patients, their families and our community.”
